You can get advice from lots of different healthcare professionals. These include members of your GP practice staff, your dentist or local pharmacists, and specialist counsellors and advisers, some of whom you can talk to on the phone.
A trained adviser who either works with you in a group or one–to–one to advise you on all the options, motivate you and monitor your progress.
He/she works closely with your GP and Pharmacist and may recommend that you also visit them to receive some of the treatment options, including treatments only available on prescription.
He/she deals with a wide range of health issues and can also offer advice on things like smoking, diet, and lifestyle.
Your GP can prescribe and recommend all treatments and support available on the NHS. He/she may advise you to see your local NHS Stop Smoking Service for further support.
Pharmacists can give stop smoking advice and advise on lifestyle and diet.
He/she can advise on the different ways to give up smoking and may recommend you visit your local NHS Stop Smoking Service or GP.
